Johnny Depp's dodging the taxman

But this time Johnny Depp's out for himself, not playing Captain Jack Sparrow, the plundering pirate.

The actor confesses he's had to resort to tax dodging which is legal.

He counts the days he spends at his home in France to make sure he doesn't end up paying a hefty chunk of his wages to their government.

The star makes sure he only stays in the country for a maximum six months a year.

Johnny said: "If I spend more than 183 days in France I have to start paying income tax there.

"So I live between wherever I am on location and the States."

"France wanted me to become a permanent resident for money.

"But permanent residency status changes everything. I'm not ready to give up my American citizenship."

Him and Bono would have a lot to talk about down the pub.
