Johnny Depp meets with Navajo visitors on 'Lone Ranger' set

Johnny Depp has met with members of the Navajo Nation on the set of The Lone Ranger.

The actor - who was in costume for his role as Tonto in the upcoming film - was given gifts by Navajo president Ben Shelly and vice president Rex Lee Jim.

The pair gave Depp and co-star Armie Hammer Pendleton blankets as the group posed for photos, reports People.

Depp was also given a traditional leather warrior pouch by Navajo Nation surgeon general Dr. Gayle Dine' Chacon, who admitted to being "star struck" during the meeting.

"He is a very charming man, very gracious and very concerned as well. He probably spent a good hour with us," she said.

"Everybody else left the set, but he was still there. He is so charming. You feel that you are the only one there that he's just focusing on you."

The Lone Ranger began filming in New Mexico in February with a budget of $210 million.

Last month, it was announced that Depp will become the first male to be given the CFDA Fashion Icon Award at a ceremony to be held in New York in June.
