Marilyn Manson featuring Johnny Depp 'You're So Vain'
Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp (yes, the actor Johnny Depp), teamed up to cover Carly Simon's 1972 smash "You're So Vain" (yes, this really happened).
Although the pairing may seem random, Manson explained to Fuse that he and Depp have been pals for years.
"I've known Johnny [Depp] for a long time," says Manson. "I was actually an extra on '21 Jump Street' when I was 19. I was sent to do an interview with him, but I didnt get the interview [Manson was a former journalist]. The article was supposed to be about what it was like to be an extra on 21 Jump Street. So we've known each other for years. I've spent a lot of time with him, but we've never worked on music together before. He called me up a couple months ago and said, 'Hey, do you wanna come over and work on something?
"We started playing blues songs and then I said, 'My record's done, but we should really do a song to add to the end of it, as if it were a movie.' It's like the movie's over and this is playing at the end title credits. So it's sort of the song that adds to it."
Check out how the track, which is from Manson's upcoming album, "Born Villain," compares to the Simon classic and let us know if you're into the shock-rocker's take on the pop smash.
