Crew member who drowned on Johnny Depp movie set identified
The crew member who drowned last week while preparing for an underwater action scene on an Acton movie set was identified Monday as Michael Andrew Bridger, 48, of Redondo Beach.
Although an autopsy was pending, the Los Angeles County coroners office said there were indications that Bridger died of a heart attack Friday while working in scuba gear in a water tank.
Bridger was working on the Walt Disney Productions film The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the masked man, although filming was not taking place when he was found in the water.
When other production workers noticed that bubbles were not coming from Bridgers scuba equipment, they pulled him out of the water. He was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital.
