Johnny Depp Skips the Oscars to Take Care of NYC Business

Johnny Depp was decked out in his characteristic accessories, including a hole-filled hat, yesterday for a meeting in NYC. He went to the East Coast and skipped out on all the Oscars fun happening back in LA. Despite missing the show, Johnny's been spending a great deal of time in and around Hollywood. In fact, he even reportedly purchased another property in the city. Despite missing out on the Academy Awards, Johnny was name checked by one of the big winners. Gore Verbinski, who won best animated feature with Rango, credited Johnny's influence in Hollywood for getting the movie made. Gore said, "It helps when you're friends with Johnny Depp. I mean, we needed money and once Johnny said he was in, things started to happen."
