It's recently been announced that a big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger will be released in May next year, starring Armie Hammer in the title role, and Johnny Depp as his native American sidekick Tonto. If this film finally sees the light of day, it will be a triumphant and unexpected outcome after what has euphemistically been described as a long development period.
