(Some complained on Twitter that he mumbled through his brief speech.) But perhaps the biggest question of all was about his appearance -- namely, "Why is he so orange?" Johnny Depp, Katy Perry, and More Kick Off Grammys Weekend at the MusiCares Gala

Stars got a head start on the Grammys celebrations with a special event honoring Bruce Springsteen in LA last night. The MusiCares Person of the Year gala brought out Katy Perry , who is nominated and will present at Sunday's Grammys, as well as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend . John performed after returning to the West Coast with Chrissy from a visit to NYC, where they attended the amfAR Gala. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw walked the carpet and also took the stage together, and Marcus Mumford hung out backstage with Johnny Depp after singing with Mumford and Sons. Bruce, the man of the hour, rocked the crowd with a performance himself, while Elton John, Sting, and others looked on. Johnny Depp lands Black Mass role

Johnny Depp is to star in 'Black Mass'. The 'Dark Shadows' actor will re-team with his 'Donnie Brasco' director Barry Levinson to portray notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the forthcoming crime thriller, Deadline reports. The movie takes its title from Dick Lehr and Gerald O'Neill's 2001 book 'Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob' and it promises a 'highly complex' story examining an FBI scandal. Producer Brian Oliver said: 'I could not be more thrilled to have the biggest star in the world and Academy Award-winning director Barry Levinson to finally bring this incredible story to the big screen. Johnny Depp, Ellen DeGeneres to present at Grammy Awards

Johnny Depp and Ellen DeGeneres are to be among the presenters at the Grammys. The 55th annual Grammy Awards are being held on Sunday (February 10) at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles with an all-star grouping of presenters and performers. Joining Depp and DeGeneres to give away the prestigious music awards will be Kat Dennings, John Mayer, Pitbull, Bonnie Raitt and Kelly Rowland of the recently reunited Destiny's Child. Previously announced presenters for the music industry's biggest night are Katy Perry , Neil Patrick Harris , Carly Rae Jepsen, Keith Urban, Faith Hill and Kaley Cuoco. Sunday's Grammy Awards will also feature live performances from Rihanna , Carrie Underwood , Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 , Elton John and Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake.
