Johnny Depp Stars in 'Dark Shadows' Plus What Else He's Been Up To

What has Johnny Depp been up to lately?

If you've ever wanted to see Johnny Depp as a vampire, now you have your chance. Even as a one of the undead he still manages to look attractive. He'll play vampire Barnabas Collins in the new movie "Dark Shadows." The film, which hits theaters on May 11, 2012, is directed by Tim Burton. A few of his costars include Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloe Moretz. Other than getting ready for the release of his new movie, what else has he been up to lately?

"The Lone Ranger"

The hottie is currently in New Mexico filming "The Lone Ranger" which is slated for release on May 31, 2013. He'll play Tonto while his co-star Armie Hammer plays The Lone Ranger. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently tweeted the fantastic photo of the two dressed as their respective characters. Other actors in the film include Tom Wilkinson and Helena Bonham Carter.

Fashion Icon Award

The Council of Fashion Designers of America released a list of their nominees and honorees for the 2012 CDFA Fashion Awards. Their announcement states "The Fashion Icon Award will be gi! ven to J ohnny Depp, the first male recipient to receive the award, for his personal and eclectic sense of style." He certainly deserves the award considering he's one of the few who can pull off a fedora, colored glasses and long hair and still look sexy. The ceremony will take place on June 4, 2012 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

"21 Jump Street"

From 1987 to 1990 the actor played Officer Tom Hanson in the popular TV series "21 Jump Street" and now he's going to be making a cameo in the movie remake. However, the 48-year-old only agreed to take the part after his co-star from the show, Peter DeLuise, was also asked to join. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill star in the movie as Jenko and Schmidt.
