Depp, ex had 'blazing' rows

Johnny Depp reportedly had "blazing arguments" with Vanessa Paradis before they called it quits.

According to an insider, there was unresolved resentment between the two because of the Dark Shadows star's highly successful career.

The source claimed that it was 39-year-old Paradis who encouraged Depp (49) to take on blockbuster roles such as the 2003 hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl instead of the independent movies Depp favoured causing his career to sky-rocket.

The source told USMagazine.com: "Vanessa started to feel like she'd sacrificed her career for his.

"They'd have blazing fights. Vanessa would take her frustrations out on him. [Johnny, in turn], started to drink heavily.

"Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn't happy. And when he wasn't working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the kids and her family."

The friend continued: "It broke Johnny's heart that the family he loves so much was becoming fractured."

Us Magazine reported that the Paradis had pulled the plug on their relationship in 2010 but the couple decided to put the needs of their two children Lily-Rose (13) and Jack (10) first.

"Johnny was heartbroken but they agreed the kids' lives shouldn't be affected. That's why they didn't announce it."

After months of speculation, Depp's representative released a statement on 19 June revealing that the couple had "amicably separated".

"Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children," Depp's publicist told TV show Entertainment Tonight.
