Johnny Depp: I trashed my trailer on the 21 Jump Street set because I wanted to get fired

Johnny Depp split from Vanessa Paradis last month

Johnny Depp doesn't care if his films flop at the box office.

Even though he's one of Hollywood's biggest stars, the Pirates Of The Caribbean hunk - who announced his split from long-term partner Vanessa Paradis in June - says he isn't driven by commercial success.

'I've always held the belief that it's really none of my business,' says Johnny, 49.

'I'm an actor. I don't even watch the things most of the time.

'People will say a movie bombed at the box office but I couldn't care less.'

Despite being a three-time Oscar nominee, Johnny says he used to be so uncomfortable with his star status that he'd turn down film roles.

He even tried to get his contract terminated on his hit 1980s show 21 Jump Street by acting up on set and trashing his trailer.

'I tried to be fired because I felt I was in a prison creatively. I was stuck in a box,' Johnny tells The Daily Mirror.

'I'm not "blockbuster boy". They created this image, this monster and they were selling it to the world.'
