THE company behind Johnny Depps new movie has been fined over the death of a crew member.

Mike Bridger, welder and water safety expert, died in a diving accident on the set of The Lone Ranger last year. Now Silver Bullet Productions have been issued with fines of over 40,000 by Californias Occupational Safety and Health Administration, who claim the company were directly at fault.

The experienced set worker who also worked with Johnny on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie died last September while cleaning one of the movies deep water tanks.

He was thought to have suffered a heart attack while in the tank.

The 48-year-old was airlifted to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The company were fined 30,000 for the four main charges and an extra 10,000 for six less serious violations.

The movie, which stars Johnny as Tonto to Armie Hammers Lone Ranger, is due for release in July.
