Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis confirm split

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together, a spokesman for the couple has confirmed.

Despite fending off rumours of a break-up earlier this year, a rep for the Hollywood super-couple, who have never married, confirmed the pair have 'amicably separated'

'They have amicably separated,' a statement from their official spokesman read. 'Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.'

According to American magazine People, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, who haven't been seen in public together for over a year, 'tried for months' to save their 14-year relationship.

'They've tried for months to save the relationship,' the source revealed, 'but have known for weeks that it couldn't be saved.'

Earlier this year it was rumoured Johnny and Vanessa, who have two children, Lily-Rose, 13, and nine-year-old Jack, were on the verge of a split, with some reporting the couple had been living 'sad' separate lives.

But Paradis swiftly silenced talk of a split, branding the rumours 'false'. Depp added: 'The rumours are not true. They are absolutely not true. No matter what I say, people believe the opposite. I cant say enough about it not being over.'

Now Johnny and Vanessa have officially gone their separate ways, it's thought the couple, worth in excess of $300 million, will divide up their assets, including homes in Paris, Venice, the Bahamas and LA.
