Johnny Depp bought horse for 'Rum Diary' co-star Amber Heard

Johnny Depp and his partner of 14 years Vanessa Paradis announced their split earlier in the month and there are already reports that the actor has given attention to another leading lady.

Depp, who is currently filming "The Lone Ranger," bought a horse for his "Rum Diary" co-star, Amber Heard, a source confirmed to E! News.

The 49-year-old actor, who will portray Tonto in the western film, has been riding a horse while shooting in New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado and the extravagant gift will allow Heard to join Depp on the trails.

The "Lone Ranger" comes from the filmmakers of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series and sees Tonto, described as a "spirit warrior on a personal quest," joining forces with John Reid, a lawman who becomes a masked avenger nicknamed the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer), in a "fight for justice." The movie is slated for release in 2013.

Depp and Paradis had been together since 1998 and are parents to daughter Lily-Rose, 13, and son Jack, 9. A spokesperson for Depp confirmed the pair's split to OnTheRedCarpet.com on June 19, adding that they had "amicably separated."

The 26-year-old actress portrayed Depp's love interest in the 2011 film, "The Rum Diary." The actress praised her co-star at the film's premiere.

"Johnny's an icon, yes, but more than that, he's a good person, he's smart, he's fiercely intelligent and very creative," Heard told the Associated Press at the film's premiere last October. "He offers so much more and working with him, I really do see why he is the icon that he is."

Heard most recently appeared opposite Nicolas Cage in "Drive Angry 3D" and has also starred in movies such as the 2008 comedy "Pineapple Express" with Seth Rogen and James Franco. Heard also appeared opposite LeAnn Rimes' husband Eddie Cibrian in NBC's short-lived and co! ntrovers ial series "The Playboy Club." The Parents Television Council criticized the series for being "too racy" and for glamorizing pornography.

Heard, who dated artist and photographer Tasya van Ree for several years, told Playboy magazine in August 2010 that she but did not want to be categorized as a lesbian.

"I don't want to be labeled as one thing or another," Heard told Playboy magazine. "In the past I've had successful relationships with men, and now I'm in this successful relationship with a woman. When it comes to love I am totally open."
