The legendary Austin musicianBill Carter is back with new material and hes ready for you to listen.

The Texas singer-songwriter whose resume includes time writing for Stevie RayVaughnand a spell in P, the band he shared with Johnny Depp and Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers has a new single Anything Made of Paper, which you can hear exclusively here. The track will be featured on his upcoming solo record Unknown(out Jan. 15), as well as West of Memphis, Peter Jacksons soon-to-be-released documentary about the West Memphis 3.

And according to Carter, the track is tailored for the job. This song simply states that when there is hope, there is life, he tells EW. And when there is life, there is hope.

This heartfelt song, penned by my dear friends Bill and Ruth Carter, is a sublime, haunting number that offers us outsiders a tiny insight into the cruel world that Damien and Lorri were forced to inhabit for so long, Depp says. Those words, Anything Made of Paper are rooted in truth, for no item but paper was permitted either in nor out of Damiens Arkansas cage.

Adds Depp, In this track, such barbaric limitations are turned into a thing of beauty and poetry, emulating the way in which Damien and Lorri persevered and ultimately triumphed out from the savagery interminably imposed upon them.
