Aerosmith let Johnny Depp sing on album after borrowing his guitar
Hollywood star Depp recorded backing vocals after visiting their Los Angeles recording studio to lend the band a guitar and John Lennons son Julian was enlisted after he heard front man Steven Tyler singing in the shower.
Tyler was joined by guitarist Joe Perry at a launch party for their 15th studio album Music From Another Dimension!, which also features Carrie Underwood at The Box in Soho last night.
Tyler, 64, said: A lot of stuff happens in LA. We were staying at a hotel where Julian Lennon was staying, and one morning I was singing in the shower. The window was open, and I just heard, Steven? We brought him over to the studio and he sang on the opening track.
Perry, 62, said Depp got involved as the band had not brought enough guitars. He said: Johnnys got a great guitar collection he is a great musician. He came round to the studio and I asked if I could borrow one of his axes.
He brought one down and we were laying down some tracks, and by the time it got to about two in the morning, usually at that time whoever is left in the studio gets put in front of the microphone for backing vocals. We did the Oh yeahs and everything and he is now on the record.
The album is due for release on November 5 and the pair said they would love to perform in London next year.
