Movie Roundup: Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer Take on the Old West in First 'Lone Ranger' Trailer
It's been more than half a year since the first image of Johnny Depp as Tonto piqued our curiosity about The Lone Ranger. Today we finally have our first trailer, and it looks exactly like the kind of big budget western you'd expect from the star, director (Gore Verbinski), producer (Jerry Bruckheimer), and parent company (Disney) that brought us fourPirates of the Caribbeanmovies.
Armie Hammer, who made a name for himself playing both Winklevoss twins inThe Social Network, stars as the titular masked ranger, while Depp dons heavy (and surprisingly not very controversial at this point) makeup to play his loyal Native American sidekick, Tonto. Packed with slow-motion gunplay, sweeping canyon shots, saloon girls, train robberies, and the dead crow that sits on Johnny Depp's head, this could be the post-John Carter blockbuster Disney needs to get back on track.
Daniel Radcliffe's Devilish Transformation

"To play somebody who, in the midst of a time in his life of great turmoil anyway, undergoes this horrific transformation into a devil character it was very, very exciting," he told Entertainment Weekly yesterday. Check out the full-size picture on EW.com.
Cast of The Princess Bride ReunitesIt's been 25 years since Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, and the rest of the cast of The Princess Bride gave us one of the most quotable movies of the '80s. That iconic cast reunited last night to celebrate the release of the 25th anniversary edition of the movie on Blu-Ray and DVD, including Mandy Patinkin (pictured right) who played Spaniard swordsman Inigo Montoya, but is better known today for his work onHomeland.
Pictured from left are: Cary Elwes (Westley), Robin Wright Penn (Princess Buttercup), Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya), Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), Carol Kane (Valerie), and Billy Crystal (Miracle Max). More pictures here.
Gwyneth Paltrow Wants to Make an '80s Musical
Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly in negotiations to produce a stage musical based on the life and music of the Go-Gos. Carrying on the tradition of band-inspired musicals likeMamma Mia!(ABBA) andAmerican Idiot(Green Day), Paltrow hopes to bring seminal '80s hits like "Vacation" and "Our Lips Are Sealed" to Broadway. Looks like a recurring spot on Glee has Mrs. Goop feeling all musical. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
Yippee-ki-yay! It'sDie Hard 5Bruce Willismay be 57 years old, but he's still a badass (see:Expendables 2), which is why we're excited to see him reprising his role as John McClane for yet another Die Hard movie. And if you've been wondering what ever happened to John McClane Jr. who appeared so briefly in the first movie only to disappear in 2,3, and 4 well it turns out he's a chip off the old block. John Jr. (Jai Courtney) and his dad will be traveling to Russia to take on the forces of evil in A Good Day to Die Hard, due out in February.
A-List Stars Do Very R-Rated Material in Movie 43Today we are in awe of Movie 43, the obliquely-titled hard R comedy boasting a roster of stars that would make New Year's Eve director Garry Marshall jealous. Emma Stone, Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Anna Faris, Chloe Moretz, Gerard Butler, Kristen Bell, and many many more faces you'll probably recognize appear in the red band trailer, which we have not included here because of some NSFW nudity. (Watch it on Comedy Central if you're curious.)
Like an A-list version of The Underground Comedy Movie, Movie 43 is a series of very dirty sketches. The trailer opens with Anna Faris asking Parks & Recreation actor Chris Pratt to "poop on" her (see image above), setting the tone for the rest of the skits, which were directed by the likes of Elizabeth Banks, Brett Ratner, Peter Farrelly, and Bob Odenkirk. Word is it took four years to shoot the movie because of the many busy schedules involved. So really it's a labor of love.

It follows a group of indie game developers as! they sla! ve away in the pursuit of creating the next big thing. Here's the trailer:
Seth Greenhas been picked to anchor an indie musical calledThe Identical, which was described toVariety as "a rock and roll fable about the power of music and dreams." He'll appear alongsideAshley JuddandRay Liottaas adrummer plagued by standard rock excesses.Liotta is charged with a role akin to John Lithgow's inFootloose.
