Vanessa Paradis speaks about love and life without Johnny Depp
Two days before news about her split with Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp, went public, Vanessa Paradis spoke about love and dating in an interview for the September issue of Harpers Bazaar Magazine.
In the interview, the 39-year-old explained why her relationship with Depp ultimately collapsed, saying that it is possible to be in love but still be unhappy.
Love is the strongest and most fragile thing we have in life. Nothing is ever for sure, but when something in love doesnt work from the beginning, its never going to work. Dont push it.
With two kids, Lily-Rose and Jack, it seemed almost impossible that the passion would ever be extinguished from their relationship. To the public, it looked as though the two were soul mates. Paradis even admits that they both experienced love at first sight. However, the singer-turned-actress says that love should be easy.
In a recent interview with the French edition of Elle, excerpted by People, Paradis insists that she is happier now that she and Depp have gone their separate ways.
"I hate, for example, whenever you hear someone say: 'You have to work at being a couple. No, you have to want to be there. And for me, I want to be right where I am right now.
Unlike other messy Hollywood breakups, Depp and Paradis appear to have parted ways amiably and the split was mutual. In the interview, Paradis even hinted about dating and revealed her preference in men.
"Well, my type is obviously creativ! e. Creative, with burning eyes and a pretty mouth."
The September issue of Harpers Bazaar Magazine will hit newsstands on August 21.
